About CheersHello my name is Richard Burns. Cheers winemaking and brewing started trading on 29 January 1997. When I took over an existing home brew shop, which had started in March 1972. I first brewed beer in 1956. The results were spectacular. I had previously helped my mother to make country wine in the early 1950’s. Cheers was an instant success and the business took off immediately and business has increased considerably each year. The idea of the courses came about in 1998 when I realised that people would like to get into mashing beer but didn’t know how to do it. So practical mashing started. In 1999 I started the Italian wine making course. The traditional cider-making course started in 2002 It was sold out in 3 weeks so I organised a second which sold out just as quickly.
